For the NJ Nets intro film, we steered away from the glitzy highlight montages used by most NBA teams in favor
of a stripped down, attitude-driven piece that would connect to New York fans and forge a new identity for the team in advance to its move to Brooklyn. The success of the work relied on the players’ performances; it was essential that they feel authentic and spontaneous. So, instead of scripted lines and contrived actions, we had the players go through their normal pre-game routine while camera crews followed. We then edited the resulting footage into a sparce, raw sequence with minimal visual effects, drawing more attention to the players' natural grace, attitude, and intensity. |
